Matt Groening, creator of “The Simpsons,” subsequently engaged Steve to write the script for an animated Christmas special, “Olive the Other Reindeer.” The show contains several original songs co-written by Steve, and performed by Drew Barrymore, Michael Stipe, and others. The show was nominated for an Emmy, and Steve won an “Annie” award for his script.
